Compose with a stylus
Handwriting music is often faster than clicking notes into notation software, especially for sketches, lessons and transcription. On a tablet, staff paper gives you the speed of handwriting with unlimited pages, copy and paste, and lasso tools for moving bars around.
Getting the size right
Staves with 2.2 mm between lines match standard manuscript paper at the page size. On screen you will usually zoom in, so choose the larger staves variation if you prefer to see a whole page while writing. Six-line guitar tab and other layouts are available in the generator.
For teachers
Prepare exercises on staff pages before a lesson, write on them live during a video call, and export the annotated pages as PDFs for students. The music paper guide explains staff sizes and layouts, and large staff paper suits young beginners.

Frequently asked questions
Can I write music with an Apple Pencil on this?
Yes. Zoom in so the staves are a comfortable size, and write note heads and stems as you would on paper.
How do I add more pages?
Set the number of pages before downloading, or import the PNG as a template and add pages as needed.
Is there a grand staff version?
Yes, choose the grand staff layout in the generator, or see the printable grand staff paper.
Will it play back my music?
No, it is handwriting paper. For playback, copy the finished piece into music notation software.
