Records that are easy to keep

Some records are simply quicker on paper: a sign-in sheet on a clipboard at the door, a reading log in a school bag, a budget sheet on the desk at the end of the month. These templates give each job sensible column headings and evenly ruled rows so the record stays tidy and easy to add up.

The six sheets

Reading log. For school reading records and personal reading challenges.

Monthly budget. List categories such as rent, food and transport, write what you planned and what you spent, and see the difference.

Expense tracker. Record every purchase with its date and category to find where money goes.

Sign-in sheet. For events, meetings, visitors and volunteers.

Attendance sheet. Names down the side and a column per session for a month of classes or club meetings.

Inventory sheet. For stock rooms, pantries, craft supplies and collections.

Printing tips

Print at 100% / Actual size. Use landscape for the attendance sheet. A clipboard and a pen on a string make sign-in sheets far more likely to be filled in.

Frequently asked questions

Which log sheets are included?

A reading log (date, title, author, pages, minutes, rating), a monthly budget (category, budget, actual, difference, notes), an expense tracker (date, description, category, paid with, amount), a sign-in sheet (name, email or phone, time in, time out, signature), a class attendance sheet (name and 23 date columns) and an inventory sheet (item, code, location, quantity, reorder level, notes).

Why does the attendance sheet have 23 date columns?

A school or working month has at most 23 weekdays, so one sheet covers a month of lessons. Print it in landscape for wider columns.

Can I change the row height?

Yes, from 5 to 15 mm. 8 mm suits most handwriting; use 10 mm for children or sign-in sheets filled in standing up.

Can I add my own column names?

The headings are fixed for each sheet. For your own columns, use columnar paper, which has numbered columns and a wide description column.

Are these suitable for record keeping at work?

They are general-purpose templates. Check whether your workplace, school or club needs specific information on a sign-in or attendance record before relying on them.

Do they print well in black and white?

Yes. Headings sit on a very light grey band and all lines are dark enough to photocopy.
