A printed ruler, protractor or ring sizer is only as good as the print, so each one is drawn as a vector at exact physical size and the PDF tells the printer not to scale it. Print at 100% / Actual size, check one known length, and if your printer is slightly off, run the calibration wizard once.
The printable ruler page gives centimetre and inch rulers with fine ticks, a 180° protractor with a mark for every degree, and a foot-length ruler with a heel line for measuring feet in centimetres and inches. The ring sizer offers a cut-out strip in US sizes and a chart of circles labelled with their inner diameters.
These tools are handy when a real ruler is missing, when buying a ring or shoes online, or when a class needs a set of rulers. For anything where a millimetre matters, such as jewellery or engineering, treat a printed tool as a check and confirm with a calibrated instrument.
Frequently asked questions
How accurate are printable rulers?
Within a fraction of a millimetre on most printers at 100%. Some printers scale by 1 to 3 percent; calibration corrects that.
Can I measure my ring size?
Yes, with the ring sizer strip or circle chart, in US sizes with diameters in mm.
What can I check the scale against?
A credit card is 85.6 mm wide; A4 paper is 210 mm wide; US Letter is 8 1/2 inches wide.
Why does my print measure short?
Usually because the print dialog is set to Fit to page. Choose 100% or Actual size.
Do I need special paper?
No. Plain paper works for rulers and the ring sizer strip; card makes a stiffer ruler or protractor. Avoid card for the ring sizer strip, which has to wrap round a finger.
