Easy on the eyes
Many word searches pack 15 or 20 rows of small letters onto a page. For people with low vision, older solvers and young readers, that density is the hardest part of the puzzle. Using a 10 × 10 grid gives each letter a large square, and keeping words to across and down means they read in the natural direction.
Making a themed puzzle
- Memory and conversation: use family names, home towns, favourite songs or hobbies.
- Care homes and clubs: pick a seasonal theme for each week’s activity sheet.
- Classrooms: make a puzzle from this week’s vocabulary for early readers.
Keep words to ten letters or fewer so they fit the grid. Around eight to twelve words fill a 10 × 10 puzzle nicely without crowding.
Adjusting difficulty
If the easy setting is too quick, add diagonals while keeping the large grid. For more words, use the 12 × 12 variation; squares get slightly smaller but letters stay large. For other large-print puzzles, try large-print sudoku.
Printing
Print at 100% / Actual size on bright white paper for the best contrast. Change the puzzle number to reshuffle the grid with the same words.

Frequently asked questions
How large are the letters?
In a 10 × 10 grid on Letter each square is nearly 2 cm and the letters print at 16 pt, much larger than in most puzzle books.
Can I use my own words?
Yes. Type up to about a dozen words in the generator, one per line or separated by commas, and give the puzzle a title. Any word that cannot fit is left out, and the generator shows how many were placed so you can enlarge the grid.
Which directions are used?
In the easy setting, words run only left to right and top to bottom. The medium setting adds diagonals, and hard adds backwards words.
Is there an answer page?
Yes. The answer page shows the same grid with every word highlighted.
