A ready-made halloween puzzle
This printable has 18 words hidden across, down and diagonally in a 15 × 15 grid, with the word list underneath and an answer page at the back of the PDF. It suits October. Halloween is on 31 October every year, so classroom parties usually fall in the last school days of the month.
Spooky, scarier or terrifying
Easy, for kids keeps every word across or down, so young trick-or-treaters can find GHOST and BATS without help. The default hides words diagonally too, and Hard makes them read backwards, a properly devilish version for older children who think word searches are too easy.
Ideas for using it
- Print the easy version for younger children at a class party.
- Set a timer and race in teams, one puzzle per table.
- Hand them out with candy-free treats for trick-or-treaters.
Printing tips
Print at 100% on Letter or A4. Orange paper looks the part and stays readable with black ink. For a whole party pack, add the fall word search and a few mazes, and make a puzzle about your own costumes with the word search maker.
