Who came, and when
A sign-in sheet answers three questions: who was there, how to reach them, and when they arrived and left. That covers visitor logs at reception, workshops and training sessions, open days, volunteer shifts and community events. The signature column confirms each entry was made by the person themselves.
Setting it up
- Clip the sheet to a clipboard with a pen attached; people sign in far more reliably when the pen is there.
- Add a date and event name at the top before the doors open.
- For events with name badges, put the sign-in sheet beside them so it is the first stop.
- For repeat sessions with the same people, the attendance sheet is quicker: one name per row, one column per session.
Privacy
Paper sign-in sheets lying on a counter show everyone’s details to the next person. If that matters, use a fresh sheet often, or ask visitors to cover the rows above with a card. Keep finished sheets somewhere secure and dispose of them when no longer needed.
Printing
Print at 100% / Actual size on Letter or A4. Choose the larger rows if people will be writing standing up.
