A full mixed check
Once all the tables have been taught, a mixed sheet shows which facts are secure and which still need work. This one draws 60 questions at random from the 2 to 12 times tables, swapping the order of the numbers half the time so 3 × 8 and 8 × 3 both appear.
Using the results
Mark the sheet with the answer page, then list the facts that were wrong or slow. They usually cluster: a few from the 7s, 8s and 12s, or the square numbers. Make a short follow-up sheet from just those tables on the times table worksheet generator and practise them for a few days before the next mixed check.
Make it harder or easier
- Missing numbers hides a factor in some questions, which tests understanding rather than recall of a chant.
- Up to 10 × 10 suits children who have not yet met the 11s and 12s.
- Fewer questions (20 or 30) suit a daily warm-up rather than a weekly check.
Printing tips
Print at 100% on Letter or A4. With 60 questions the text is smaller than on the 20-question sheets; for younger children choose 30 or 40 questions for bigger numbers.

Frequently asked questions
How long should 60 facts take?
It varies with age and practice. A useful benchmark is the score and time boxes on the sheet itself: record both, and aim to improve them a little each week rather than to hit a fixed target.
Are the 1 times table facts included?
No. The sheet uses the 2 to 12 tables, so every question is worth practising; the 1s add nothing to learn.
Will every fact appear?
The 2 to 12 tables up to × 12 hold 132 questions, so a 60-question sheet shows just under half of them. Print several sheet numbers to cover the rest.
Can I use it as a weekly test?
Yes. Use a new sheet number each week so the questions change but the difficulty stays the same, and keep the scores on the sheets as a record.
