The school year on one page
Teachers, students and parents think in school years, not calendar years. An academic calendar starting in August or September shows the whole year in the order it is lived: the first term, the winter break, the long middle stretch and the summer.
What it shows
Twelve compact months from August 2027 (or September 2027) to July (or August) 2028, under a single 2027–28 title, with the week starting on Sunday or Monday and optional ISO week numbers. February 2028 has 29 days because 2028 is a leap year.
Ideas
- Keep a copy in the front of a teacher planner.
- Count the teaching weeks in each term.
- Plan revision backwards from exam dates.
- Mark birthdays in a class for a year of celebrations.
Printing tips
Print at 100% / Actual size in landscape. Laminate a copy for the classroom wall.

Frequently asked questions
Does the 2027–2028 school year include a leap day?
Yes. 2028 is a leap year, so February 2028 has 29 days, and the calendar shows it.
Can it start in September?
Yes, use the September to August variant. The default starts in August, which suits many US school districts.
How do I mark term dates?
Highlight the first and last day of each term and shade holidays in a second colour. Write exam weeks with their ISO week number if your school uses them.
Is there a monthly version?
Yes: print the months you need from the monthly calendar and set the year for each.
Can I print it larger for a staff room?
Choose A3 or Tabloid as the paper size; the layout scales to fill it.
