When the kids’ mazes are too easy
Wide-corridor mazes suit young children, but older solvers finish them in seconds. These mazes shrink the corridors to 6 mm, which packs over 1,200 cells onto a page. There are many long dead ends, and the correct route winds across most of the page before reaching the exit.
Tips for solving
- Start from the end: working backwards from the exit is often quicker.
- Fill dead ends: shade each dead end back to its junction; what remains is the route.
- Follow one wall: keep a finger on the left-hand wall and you will always reach the exit in a perfect maze, though not by the shortest path.
Uses
Quiet time on trips, early-finisher work in class, puzzle pages for newsletters and gift booklets, or a relaxing break away from screens. A whole stack can be printed with a different number for each sheet. For younger solvers, use the mazes for kids with wide corridors.
Printing
Print at 100% / Actual size. The solution page shows the route in colour, so print it separately or keep it as a digital file to check answers.

Frequently asked questions
How big is a hard maze?
With 6 mm corridors, a Letter page holds 31 × 40 cells and A4 holds 31 × 44. The very hard variation, with 4 mm corridors, reaches 47 × 60 on Letter.
Is there always a way through?
Yes, exactly one. The mazes are perfect mazes: every cell is reachable and there is only one route between any two points, so there are no loops to shortcut.
How do I get a new maze?
Change the maze number in the generator. Each number gives a different maze, and the same number always gives the same one.
What pen should I use?
A fine pen or sharp pencil. At 6 mm, a thick marker can cross walls; at 4 mm, a 0.5 mm pencil works best.
